Procedure & Committee Flow

Hi Delegates!

I wanted to check in with you to provide some more insight into how our committee is going to work at BMUN 72. UNEP will be using THIMUN procedure

Our committee will begin with a time for lobbying. This is where delegates can use the time to write their resolutions. We recommend writing a few clauses before the conference so this transition into resolution writing is smoother. We will entertain one main submitter. This lobbying time will be leveraged to write resolutions for both Topic A and B. After we use the whole committee session 1 for lobbying, we will be entertaining those resolutions throughout the conference.

What is also unique to THIMUN is the use of amendments. These amendments can start with either Strike, Add, or Modify to amend the current resolution being entertained. THIMUN procedure also allows for active participation as these amendments can be amended to the second degree! We hope this format can help everyone with being engaged and aid in the process of fruitful debate.

For a more detailed look at BMUN procedure, you can check out the procedure guide on the BMUN website or reach out to us with any questions!

Although we plan on letting you dictate the flow of the committee, our Dais will attempt to steer some talking points if we feel that an important sub-topic is left out of the conversation or that debate is repeating itself– with that in mind, we suggest you prepare lots of different talking points to make for an engaging debate! We will also be covering both topics over the span of the committee, so please prepare accordingly to speak on both!

Again, don’t hesitate to reach out with any questions on procedure or flow, and leave a comment below if you’re excited about BMUN 72!!

Best,

Emma Wu

Head Chair of UNEP, BMUN 72
